SEPTA Market Street Elevated Reconstruction Stations Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Demolition of four existing elevated passenger stations and elevated track structure; installation of four new ADA compliant passenger stations (including all mechanical and electrical systems) and the installation of new guideway structure, platforms and track structure.

RAI furnished and installed the complete electrical portion of the project, including: medium voltage power distribution system, lighting, power distribution to all equipment, fire alarm systems, datacom systems and security.

RAI scope included, but was not limited to:

  • Electrical permitting
  • Furnish, install and test new medium voltage distribution equipment at Allison Substation.
  • Furnish, install and test new medium voltage cable systems to all four new stations.
  • Furnish, install and test new 13.2 KV to 480 volt substations at 46th Street, 52nd Street, 56th Street and 60th Street passenger stations (2 substations per station).
  • Furnish, install and test new emergency generators at each station.
  • Furnish and install all secondary power distribution at each station.
  • Furnish, install, test and certify all fire alarm systems at each station.
  • Furnish and install all lighting in the building and on the platforms at each station.
  • Furnish and install all street lighting at each station.
  • Furnish and install all datacom systems at each station.
  • Install all emergency phone and CCTV systems for the elevators at each station.
  • Furnish and install power systems to all elevators and escalators at each station.
  • Install all electronic call boxes (ECB's) on the platforms at each station.
  • Install all other electrical at each station, including: wash-down stations, security conduit and wiring, elevator recall, etc.
