Atlantic City Convention Center
LOCATION:
Atlantic City, New Jersey
DESIGN / BUILD / COMPLETION DATE:
December 2008
SYSTEM:
2.36-megawatt rooftop solar power system
Under a 20-year power purchase agreement, the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority hired a private company, Pepco Energy Services of Arlington, Va., to install a 2.36-megawatt rooftop solar power system.
On completion, the solar power system was be the largest single-roof solar power array installation in the United States
The solar power system cover two-thirds of the main roof of the convention center or about 290,000 square feet
The total savings realized by Atlantic City Convention Center as a result of the solar project will be nearly $4.4 million in electricity costs over the 20-year contract
The Pepco Energy solar system will provide aproximately 26% of the Atlantic City Convention Center's electrical usage
The rooftop solar power system is comprised of approximately 13,486 modules/panels
A new Energy Star rated roof covers approximately 500,000 square feet
The generation of renewable energy from the Atlantic City Convention Center Solar Project reduces the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by 2,349 tons.
