Karabots Pediatric Care Center Renewable Energy Project

With 56 child-friendly examination rooms, plus rooms dedicated to radiology, hearing and vision testing, and a phlebotomy laboratory, the Karabots two-story, 52,000-square-foot environmentally sustainable pediatric care facility is expected to provide the best available primary care services to the children of West Philadelphia. So, it makes sense that Philadelphia’s INTECH Construction, the project’s general contractor, chose Ray Angelini, Inc. (RAI) to help make the future bright for young patients at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Karabots Pediatric Center, with a 92.12 KW rooftop photovoltaic system, mounted on two levels of the roof. CHOP anticipates a savings of 110,500 kWh/year for a yearly savings of $13,260, reducing its carbon footprint by 78 tons per year— equivalent to the emissions from 16 passenger cars per year or enough electricity to service 12 homes per year.
