James J. Merkins, Jr. has extensive experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing multi-million dollar contracts for various construction projects. Jim also advises Management on all aspects of sales and operation, including dispute resolution, adhering to corporate formalities, insurance and bonding issues, and corporate compliance issues.

 

Jim joined RAI after practicing corporate and commercial law with Bouchard Margules & Friedlander, P.A. in Wilmington, DE, and with Blank Rome LLP in Philadelphia, PA & Wilmington, DE.

 

Prior to private practice, Jim worked as a law clerk for Chief Justice Myron T. Steele, Supreme Court of Delaware, and as a judicial intern for The Honorable Delores K. Sloviter, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia, PA.

 

Jim received his law degree magna cum laude from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, DE. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with minors in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies, from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA.

 

Jim lives in Springfield, PA, and is active in his community as a board member for the township’s planning commission, as the solicitor to a local municipal sewer authority, and as a coach for several youth athletic teams.
